Our Story:
Hi My name is Stephanie. I am a junior in high school. In 2008 I created this program that delivers books to kids in Central New York who are receiving free meals.
The program's overall goal is to promote literacy by annually delivering 5-6 books to each child. Over 2,000 books have already been delivered. Books have been collected from friends and family and book drives have been held at local churches and schools.
Books are delivered to Parkside Community Center, Southside Church of Christ, Northeast Community Center, Fayette Street Boys and Girls Club, Schiller Park Community Center, and Wilson Park Community Center, the Mary Nelson Youth Center, and Imagine Syracuse at Huntington Community Center. The program has also delivered books to the Rescue Mission and has a book shelf at the Samaritan Center.
